Yushin Kato is an interdisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Over the past decade Yushin’s career as a graphic designer and art director has led her to work with reputable brands such as Shiseido, Derek Lam, and Victoria’s Secret. She has had the pleasure of sharing her art at local coffee shops and the Brooklyn Museum, with a solo exhibition coming in fall 2025.

STATEMENT

My work explores the interconnection between the natural world and the internal landscape. Through intuitive drawing and painting I use botanical imagery to reflect the mirrored systems found in nature, the body, and the cosmos. Much of my work emerges from personal inquiry, a return to embodiment and meaning-making through the tactile act of creation. I am especially interested in florals as both symbols and systems, forms that hold memory, medicine, and mystery. Each piece is a meditation on the balance between structure and surrender, the micro and macro, the seen and unseen.
